Honey Hunting is the real and frequent activity of indigenous Gurung communities in western region of Nepal.Nepal is very rich in honeybee diversity. There are at least No doubt, our heart tremble on viewing the unbelievable scene of honey hunting run at the cliff of height more than 200 meters only on the support of home made traditional ladder made up of bamboo’s strip. October/November and may/June are two probable periods of honey hunting in a year.Nepal is a mountainous country and due to its altitudinal variation there is a huge diversity of various plants and herbs which is a paradise for hardworking bees. They collect the nectar and juice from flowers of different plants and make one of the most delicious and highly medicinal, natural honey in the cliffs of Himalayas.The cliff bee suck nectar from high Himalayan herbal plants like Yarsagunba (Cordyceph , Sinensis) & Paanchawle (Danctytorhiza, Hatagirea). Remember! These herbs are sold at more than 1,000 USD / Kg. Just harvesting honey in your house is not difficult but Nepal wild honey hunting is something different that you will enjoy with curiosity. Local honey hunters show their exceptional skills by hanging themselves from cliffs as high as 300 meters using Bamboo ladders and hemp ropes, while harvesting the honeycombs. Everyone is thrilled to watch honey hunters at work.
